Parrots Feather
Plucking
Birds
that lose feathers
Parrots pluck their feathers
for many different reasons. The first thing to do is to take
your bird to an avian vet for a blood test and an examination.
A vet can determine whether
this is a behavioral problem or a veterinary problem. If however
it is a behavioural issue, it could be caused by a number
of different reasons. For example you may have made a change
in your home; it could be a case of a family member leaving
the home and not returning, or it may be due to a lack of
toys in the cage.
Have you moved the parrot
into another room? It may even be down to a lack of handling
the bird. Have you checked the humidity in the room? Birds
can also become bored very easily.
There are many other reasons
why a bird will feather pluck. If you are concerned about
your pet, please contact me for further details and an assessment.
